Putting and the art of Zen
Regular readers of this magazine will already be familiar with the innovative ZEN ORACLE TOUR putting trainer, the practical benefits of which can be found demonstrated by leading tour coach Pete Cowen (see our website: click here ). By placing a ball in the aperture you are able to develop your stroke with a series of easy drills that provide direct feedback to the line of your stroke, both back and through. Be warned, though: practising can be addictive. From £120.

ROBERT BAKER says...
To stay with putting trainers for a moment, I am a huge fan of the Zen Oracle (this is the original model). Why is it so good? Because it immediately encourages the gradual acceleration of the putter and it doesn’t tolerate any jerkiness in your stroke. What’s more, via the ‘release’ exercise (where you place a ball in the aperture and then release it towards the hole) it teaches you a a square putter- face position. Brilliant. It teaches you the feeling of letting the ball get in the way of the stroke and with regular use keeps your stroke smooth in both directions.
