| At 5’6” in her
soft-spikes, Annika Sorenstam may not be the most imposing figure in
golf, but her bubbly charm and single-minded professionalism mark her
out as one of the game’s most likeable characters. On top of all
that, the 32year-old Swede seems genuinely interested in hitting a few
balls for the camera. And the moment she picks up her driver you are
struck by the reality that unfolding before you is one of the most natural
swings in golf.
Simplicity screams from the set-up and from the continuous motion that
flows so effortlessly from it. The ball gets in the way and bang –
260 on the fly. “Annika’s as close to a robot as you will
find in golf,” says her compatriot and fellow Solheim Cup teammate,
Helen Alfredsson.
One thing, however, is certain: we can all learn a lot more studying
Annika in action than we ever will keeping our eyes on the Tiger.
