OK, so with that image of the footballer kicking the in-swinging corner fresh in your mind, here’s another great exercise that can help anyone struggling with a slice to go out and enjoy the sensation of finding the inside track.
Using the football to denote a ‘no-go’ zone, simply place it opposite your right toe and immediately outside the ball-to target line. Your goal, as you then prepare to hit shots, is to avoid making contact with the football as you challenge yourself to hit shots, your focus being on swinging the club on the inside track on the way down to impact. In other words, by putting the football on what would ordinarily be a collision course for the typical out-to-in swinger, you subconciously re-route your downswing and – in a short space of time – will enjoy hitting more solid, more consistent shots.
